IMPORTANT NOTICE: New York State and local law require that all dogs, four months of age and older, be vaccinated for rabies and licensed in their town of residence. In Malone, dog licensing is done through the Office of the Malone Town Clerk, 27 Airport Road. A current certificate of rabies vaccination (and certificate of spay or neuter, if applicable) must be provided at the time of licensing.
The cost for dog licensing in Malone is: $13.00 for a spayed female or neutered male dog ($5.00 for senior dog owners 65+) $21.00 for an unspayed female or unneutered male dog ($13.00 for senior dog owners 65+)
The Town of Malone will be conducting a door-to-door dog census (enumeration) in the Town and Village beginning June 20th 2013. Dog Control Officer Shirley Morton and staff will be looking for dogs that are unlicensed, or overdue for licensing, and will urge their owners to bring them into compliance with the law. Failure to do so could result in further legal action.
From now until Wednesday, June 19th, the Town is offering a pre-enumeration amnesty period for dog owners who wish to avoid additional fees.
Beginning June 20th for any dog found to be unlicensed (or having a license renewal 2+ months overdue) an enumeration fee of $25.00 will be added to the above costs.
Malone Town Officials strongly encourage all dog owners to be sure they are in compliance with the law for their own benefit and for the safety, welfare and quality of life for everyone in our community. ~ View Your Tax Bill Online ~ Remember to get a permit when putting in wood, corn, pellet stoves.
