Receiver of Taxes

In a Town of the first class, such as Malone, the tax collecting officer is usually titled Receiver of Taxes. Duties of this statutory position include the collection of current Town and County Taxes and unpaid School or Village Taxes from the prior year (Relevy). In the Town of Malone the Receiver of Taxes is an appointed position and carries a two year term.

Collection of Town and County Taxes takes place from January 1^st through April 30^th annually. Payments may be made by mail or at the Town Offices, 27 Airport Road, Malone New York 12953, Monday through Friday from 9:00AMo 4:00PM.

Payment may be made by cash, check or money order.  Credit or Debit cards are not accepted.

Susan Hafter was first appointed as Receiver in January 1992. Her current term expires December 31, 2007. 

 Deputy Receiver of Taxes is Rita Gonyea, who also has a two year term.
